The Female Lens

An evening of screenings, presentations and networking to showcase the talent, voice and ideas of women directors.

filmdirecting4women will be holding its next monthly networking event, The Female Lens, on  Saturday 22nd May in Edinburgh to coincide with the ‘Introduction to film directing course’ taking place that weekend.

The evening will include screenings of independent short films by women directors, Q&As and presentations on upcoming projects together with speed and casual networking with the aim of promoting and furthering the work of female directors and bringing them together with potential collaborators. Directors who show their films at The Female Lens must be available for a short Q&A afterwards.

If you are interested in submitting a film to be screened at this event or in presenting an upcoming project, please email ruth [at] filmdirecting4women [dot] com including a brief synopsis of the film or project.

Submissions can be of any genre and there is no restriction on year made, however, submissions of films and project presentations are invited from women directors only.

The Female Lens welcomes anyone, male or female, interested in seeing the work of emerging women directors, as well as actors and filmmakers who are looking to make connections and collaborate on future projects.

Admission price – Members £3     Non-members £5

The Female Lens will be travelling to Cardiff in June to coincide with the ‘Introduction to film directing’ weekend course being run there.
