Introduction to Film Directing

This course is ideal if you would like:

  • to learn more about the technical side of directing
  • to gain experience in directing actors
  • to  plan, shoot and edit a short film in a group
  • to break down the mental barriers which stop you from progressing
  • to learn in a supportive environment where there is no such thing as a daft question!

Do you want to direct but lack the confidence? Are you held back by a lack of technical skills? This ground-breaking course aims to break down and dispel the macho myth that surrounds the role of the director.

I thought the course was fantastic. i can’t believe how much I’ve learned in just three days. I had expected the weekend would involve me sitting in a chair, being taught about film-making. I didn’t expect that I’d be directing actors and actually making a short film. For me this is where the course was most helpful because the hands- on experience is where I realised that, yes, I can be a film-maker.

Film theory, practical workshops and confidence building exercises combine in a fun-packed, energetic long weekend which will leave you fully prepared to direct a short film.

Suitable for beginners or those who have made shorts before but would like to increase their skills.

Small, women only classes.
